Plex Media Server is a very popular server, and it has been trending for some time now. The Plex Media Server is an application that manages your media content on your computer. Plex can be installed on Windows, MacOSX, Linux or even NAS devices such as the QNAP TurboNAS TS-453A 4-bay Network Attached Storage device.
You should follow these instructions to install the plex media server:
Download Plex Media Server from (https://ww.plexapp.com/ and install it on your computer or another device where you want to store all of your media files.) This will install Plex Media Server on your computer.
The next step is to set up the connection between plex and your TV or another device where you want to watch the files stored in it.
To do this, follow these instructions:
- Go into settings of Plex media server
- Choose a network name for your devices (a good practice is using “plex” as part of the name)
- Then select OK.
On another device such as a phone or tablet connected to that same network, open an internet browser and connect to localhost:32400/web/, enter username “admin” with no password; this should redirect you to the login page for Plex Media player web app which can be used from any browser-enabled device with access to said shared network.
