As an independent reporter writing about Newport News, Virginia I have always kept one eye on the city of Newport News and its surroundings. One of the first things I ever did was investigate the city’s new zip code. What was interesting about the new zip code is that it was created by merging several old zip codes. As a result, the city is now split into five different areas.

The city of Newport News is in a state of chaos. Here’s where I started: there’s a city of 4,500 people, and the numbers are so big that it’s hard to make a good picture of the city. The city was in turmoil since the day I graduated from college, which was the first time I’ve ever heard about a city of 4,500 people. This is not a good picture because the whole thing is much more chaotic than Newport News.
This is the worst thing that could happen to a city. The city is in chaos because the county decided to move the city to a state. The county is a small county in a state so its not that big on numbers.
The county is huge. Its one of the largest counties in Virginia. The county is huge because the state is huge. So big is the state because it is large. So big is the county because it is small. The city is small because the county is big.
