In this lesson, we discuss how semiconductors are the backbone of electronic devices. We will discuss how semiconductors function, how they are made, and how they are used.
We’ll start with basic semiconductor science. We will cover the properties of semiconductors, the basic methods of making semiconductors, and how semiconductors are used in a variety of electronic devices. The topics include transistors, diodes, resistors, and capacitors.
I hope you’re ready for semiconductor science. There are a lot of interesting bits of information here. The first thing I want to say is that I will go through the entire process of making a semiconductor circuit. I will show how the building blocks of each of the various types of semiconductors are built up. Then I will show you how you can control them through the use of transistors.
I will then explain the basics of diode theory and the principles of how they work. I would also like to note that I do not claim to have any expertise in semiconductor science. I just love it.
I am not a computer scientist, nor am I a physicist. I am a physicist. But, I have a PhD. in physics from the University of Pennsylvania.
I have to admit that even though I know what I’m talking about, I’m usually pretty bad at math. So I’m not one to be shy about using it to explain things I don’t understand. Or even just explain things I know. But this time, I’m going to show you how you can understand semiconductor physics without ever having to use a calculator or a digital watch. That’s right, I’m going to show you how it’s not all about the math.
What exactly is the physics of semiconductors? Well, there are many different types of semiconductors, but the most well-known would be silicon and the most used for computer chips would be the silicon on which our computer systems are built. In the first few minutes of that trailer I noticed that if you had just one ounce of silicon on your body, you would be able to read the tiny electromagnetic waves that are generated by the atoms in the silicon.
The physics of semiconductors is a very important subject because it is one of the most studied physics phenomena in the world. I will discuss this in a little bit.
The idea of semiconductors is that small particles are the building blocks of electronics. A semiconductor is a good example of what happens when this theory is applied to the real world. It’s a very simple material, and the basic building blocks are carbon, hydrogen, and oxygen. Carbon atoms are the simplest ones and hydrogen and oxygen are the most complicated.
This means that when you think of a single carbon atom, you probably think of it as a long straight line. It is probably a really boring way of thinking. But when you think about it as a semiconductor, you think of it as a bunch of tiny, electrically charged particles. All of these particles are attracted to each other and can move very, very quickly. Carbon, for example, is attracted to oxygen and hydrogen.
