I think that when it comes to our online activities, the best way to describe it is that we are all so busy and so consumed with making money that we forget why we do what we do. Because money is the only constant in our lives, we are constantly striving to be better, faster, more productive, etc.
It may be time to start reading our email and looking over the accounts we use. We all have at least one account and all have probably been using it for years or even decades. If you keep on using the same email address for years, you may come to believe your email has become your address and you just have to remember to change it.
That is what happened to me with some of my old friends. The only way for me to get them to stop using my email address was to tell them it was my last name and to make them start using my first name (which I then changed to my last name). It didn’t work out too well for them, but it got me thinking about how many of us use email on a daily basis, without even thinking about it.
Well, as it turns out, you can’t really get rid of email addresses, at least not easily. When I was a student at a university in the UK, I was suddenly given an email address with my name on it. I immediately started thinking about how I was going to change it, but I had never thought about changing my email address. I didn’t think of it as a matter of changing the address, but rather as changing my email address.
This is a great example of the dangers of email marketing. We tend to set up marketing emails to be sent out to our friends and family and to send emails to random people we don’t know. At every stage of this process we’re assuming that someone else will read the email. The more we rely on email marketing to get our message out, the more we create problems.
