Pain and the body is a very basic, complex topic. So many things that we can touch and feel have a profound effect on us, and it’s our responsibility to understand our body’s physiological response to these things so we can prevent injuries and improve our health.
It’s not hard at all to understand the concept of pain. It’s even more difficult to comprehend the concept of pain as it applies to videogames, which was really what we were interested in. We wanted to see how games impacted the body, and where the most significant differences are found.
In case you were wondering, we played a single 30 minute game of pain, which was extremely challenging and didn’t really feel any different from playing a normal game. The most significant difference was that we could sense exactly how the game was affecting our body… but the best part wasn’t the game at all. We were able to see exactly how our bodies reacted to the game in real time through our skin, and we were able to see these changes in a very objective visual way.

The one thing that really caught my attention was how the game seemed to cause the body to send and receive signals between different parts of your body. Sometimes the game seemed to be sending signals to all the muscles in your body at the same time, which is very nice, but also very disconcerting to people who have never felt any of those signals.
We’ve only just started playing the game so we don’t know if it’s in the game or if we are just experiencing it. But I’ve been told by someone who has played it that it is possible to turn off the game’s influence on the body, which is very nice. The game seems to be working really well and I’m very excited to see how it all works out.
One of the game’s most unsettling elements is that the effects are very real… which is why I want to talk about it because its quite possibly a game that affects the people who play it. The game’s developer, Taito, says they are working on an “enhancement” to make it more “in your face” but to do that, they’d need to take it out of the game.
As I said, pain doesn’t really stop you when you’re playing a game, but it can certainly be unnerving. The pain you feel when you’re playing games is often not directly related to the pain you feel in real life. You feel something in your body when you’re playing a game, but the game actually causes the pain you feel. (At least that’s how I see it.
I think the video game industry is more than a little uncomfortable with the idea of pain, so it would be a shame if Taito didnt take out the pain-inducing aspects of their games. The pain it causes is certainly a part of the game, but I think it should be more of a part of the game itself.
